There is NO H in Wimp!!! There is an H in Whip.....

The point about the KOA is a good one, but if they have Kabins, they sure are not enforcing a Curfew in MY Kabin.... any idea how big the Kabins are?? I could sleep in my truck, and reserve the Kabin for partying, even if it's NOT raining....Don't suppose the Kabins have a fireplace to placate the Fire Goddess, do they??

Well, they got Kabins and Kottages. Kabins are simple devices that put you inside. No bathroom, or kitchen, I don't think. But they're pretty cheap, at $50-70 a piece, sleeping 3-5 people or so.

Kottages are much more $$$ ($150?) but feature a full kitchen, bath, a tv (blech) and a gas fireplace (almost blech, but better than nothing).

They also have a variety of rv sites. I like Ed's idea of designating a kabin, Party Central.

I could call up there and diplomatically ask what the "curfew" is, for the rec room and outdoor firepit/kitchen.

I mean, my gawd...how much damage can a small possee of 40-somethings (and a few 50 60 somethings) do? I should be able to dress you up, and take you out.

Now THIS.... is a good, no scratch that, a GREAT idear. And the flyfishing skills that would be needed for this function are finely tuned, even after my haitus. On the other side of the spectrum, my haitus has turned me into a "hotel" person so we will sping for a cabin. It's just to darn cold on the floor of a tent anymore. I'm starting to get crotchity and like my creature comforts.

I have to check the dates as I have a trip in Feb, however I know March is wide open!

Keep me in the loop!

After decades of ridculing KOA, I actually stayed at one last year on a steelhead trip. Wasn't my idea. I prefer to camp normally. But I will go with the flow when warrented. This was prior to my retirement and I was invited along with a group of retired Forest Service old farts as a trainee since my retirement was just a few months away. Turns out it was excellent. After fishing in the drizzle all day a warm dry cabin was perfect. It was fun to have a kitchen to cook in and a warm dry cabin. Only down side was staying in a cabin with a bunch of old farts who snore worse than I do. I was amazed at how uncrowded the campground was. We could probably reserve the whole place and then just dare them to enforce a curfew!

Now we're talkin! I think we'd have some space, going "camping" on the coast in the middle of the rainy season, while little people are in school.

I'm not a KOA girl, either, but...the location can't be beat, for the purpose of this outing. I'm tough enough to fish in the rain, but sleeping in it...um...I think I'll pass. Charlie, I'm going to reserve you a special spot right on the beach for he-man fish-whooper types.

The joint rents itself out for weddings. I'll check to see what the figures are on that, and get back to y'all.
